Word is starting to get out that Great Plains Regional Medical Center has some of the best people in a great facility filled with state-of-the-art technology. But our real value to the 150,000 people in 17 counties of western Nebraska is our passion, or “heart,” for delivering exceptional care.
Our marketing campaign talks about the heart of the state – at Great Plains this is more than just a geographic region. For us, health care begins with heart, giving where and when we can to meet many diverse needs of our entire community.
Over the years we’ve invested in facilities, equipment and our staff to be a true community resource. We offer 25 specialties and provide access to the best possible oncology care and clinical trials of promising new treatments and the Callahan Cancer Center.
But we take our commitment to our community much further, with rigorous standards of quality and service. We continue to receive high marks on quality measures like AVATAR and have voluntarily participated in the HCAP pilot pay for performance program.
Our pledge of customer service is summed up by our desire to treat every patient and family the same way we’d want our own loved ones treated. We realize that service in health care goes beyond being responsive to needs and following through – it’s about compassion and delivering exceptional patient care.
State of the Art Health Care in the Heart of the State . . . it’s more than a slogan at Great Plains. It’s our way of serving our community.
We invite you to be part of the team.

How We Operate
We strive to treat every patient and their family just like we’d want our own loved ones to be treated. It’s the warm smile, extra blanket, and hop in our step that shows patients we care. Here are ideals that guide our actions.
- Quality. We receive high marks in the AVATAR rating system – a nationwide quality measure. In addition, we have staff dedicated to improving quality through improving processes, continuous training, ongoing measurement and patient feedback. Quality is more than a department at Great Plains –every member of the team is responsible for it.
- Service. We are responsive to the needs of our patients and families. We smile, we deliver, we go the extra mile. We look for the larger need behind the initial request and work hard to meet or exceed expectations.
- Care. Great care goes beyond follow through – it requires compassion. Our team truly cares about the patients and families who trust us with their care.
If Quality, Service and Care are how you operate, come join our team!
